Q: What makes GreenCore RPM Green?

A: DPI’s GreenCore RPM is produced using natural ingredients, wood fiber from Northern Michigan hardwoods (birch, aspen, oak and maple) blended with natural linseed oil and bonded together using only heat and extreme pressure.  No other binding agents are used.

Q: Does GreenCore RPM contain Urea Formaldehyde?

A: No! Our engineered wood is bonded together under heat and pressure without additives.  Under heat and pressure the natural lignin in the cellulosic fibers are bonded together without additional agents.

Q: What coatings are used in the manufacturing process?

A: DPI’s GreenCore is coated with a special UV coating which contains white pigments and UV resins which are cured using Ultra Violet light.  This process achieves the lowest level of VOC’s and creates as superior surface that is receptive to direct to surface digital prints, images as well as screen and flexographic inks.

Q: Does GreenCore RPM meet CARB Compliance?

A: GreenCore RPM is manufactured using wet process hardboard manufacturing systems under ANSI 135.4 which is exempt from CARB Standards. There is no added urea formaldehyde in our product.

Q: Can GreenCore RPM be laminated with lithographic or clear films?

A: Yes, GreenCore RPM is the ideal substrate for laminating lithographic and other laminating films.

Q: Can GreenCore RPM be fabricated?

A: Yes, GreenCore RPM is easily fabricated using traditional wood working machinery.  Cut to size saws with blades designed for engineered wood products provide a very clean edge and CNC routers easily fabricates Green Core into your desired shapes. CNC routers with straight bits designed with down sheer and up sheer cutting action provide the best cut edge.

Q: Does GreenCore RPM contain pre or post-consumer recycled fiber?

A: No, GreenCore is made from 100% virgin fiber from our FSC Certified Forests.  DPI’s GreenCore Premium Hardboard, our Rigid Print Media and other forest products are biodegradable, renewable, and sustainable products made from trees.  Growing and harvesting trees provides jobs for millions of men and women; and working forests are good for the environment, providing clean air, clean water, and wildlife habitat and carbon storage.

Q: Can GreenCore RPM be used as an Exterior Product?

A: DPI’s GreenCore RPM is currently designed and tested for interior projects and have not been engineered or tested for exterior applications.

Q: What Fire Rating Does GreenCore RPM Carry?

A: The Fire Rating for DPI’s GreenCore RPM under ASTM-E84 is Class III or C that correlates to the Surface Burning Characteristics of Wood Building Materials.

Q: What types of Printing Inks can be used?

A: DPI’s UV base coat and topcoat are designed to be receptive to most UV and solvent-based screen and digital inks. Consult with DPI and your ink supplier should there be any questions and we will be happy to help..
