Unique Toledo Product Makes National TV Debut

DPI joined ABC’s Emmy-winning Extreme Makeover: Home Edition by donating its panels for the show that aired Easter Sunday at 8 p.m.

APRIL 9, 2007 (Toledo, OH) – Two popular FashionWall™ Panel designs from Decorative Panels International (DPI), headquartered in Toledo, were seen in an all-new episode of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, that aired Easter Sunday at 8 p.m. locally on WTVG-TV, 13abc.

“We are thrilled that our products were used for the show,” Angela Preston, DPI’s marketing representative, said. “The design team agreed that our finished wall panels were a great fit. They’re fast and easy to install with simple tools – anyone can do it – which is critical when you’re rebuilding an entire home with a lot of volunteers in a matter of days.”

“On another level, FashionWall Panels are very environmentally friendly and naturally mold resistant. And with patterns that replicate the look and feel of real brick masonry, ceramic tile and natural stone, FashionWall Panels have a transformative quality that ties in beautifully with the goals of the show itself,” she said.

In each episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the show’s team of designers, craftspeople and volunteers have just seven days to rebuild the home of a deserving family. In Sunday’s episode, the crew rebuilt the Jones family’s dilapidated Mississippi home. All DPI FashionWall Panels were donated for use on the show.

The show’s designers picked Brushed Stainless Perforated PegPanels™ with a contemporary metallic finish for innovative storage in the garage (Brushed Stainless PegPanels are sold at Lowe’s home centers nationwide), and the Carriage House brick pattern to create warmth with the genuine look and texture of red brick in Mom’s shop.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which has won back-to-back Emmy Awards as Best Reality Program (non-competitive), is in its 4th season on ABC.  The program is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Denise Cramsey is the executive producer; and David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA.

“Having our products showcased on a program of this caliber is very exciting,” Preston said. “Best of all, it’s wonderful to know that our products are going to help change the life of a deserving family. We’re very proud to be a part of this.”
